When I was ten years old, I first picked up and read Alex Haley’s landmark novel Roots from cover to cover, almost in a single sitting. It had a profound impact on the way I saw and experienced the world for the rest of my life. In it, I would also come to see reflected the history of women and people everywhere: a story of pain, loss, struggle, determination, strength and liberation.

This image is a detail from During the Storm, painted a couple of years ago.

Very nice painting. It remembers me the works of Georges Latour, but this have an original spirit. I love the sense of worthy, brave solitude. Keep the good work!

woah! this is so realistic! i almost thought it was a picture! you have a keen sense of using light and shadows. and i always dreamed of painting like Vermeer. now i think i found someone who did! great job!

This is really stunning. The shadows and light, and the figure appearing out of one and into another, was masterfully done. Simply gorgeous!

I bought this painting, and we admire it every day. It’s right next to a gorgeous, simple piece by Grant Boland, a single candle. Everybody comments on your incredible detail and asks about you. I regularly visit Christina to check out any new pieces you might have.

It’s a small world, as I spent 3 months in St. Pierre, at the Frecker Institute, and Doug was a classmate. Hi Doug, and I’m so happy that all is well for you.
