I posted a detail of this painting several weeks ago, but the word for this week’s Illustration Friday seems as good a reason as any to reveal the rest of the image.

Between ultrasounds and looking after our first born, I’ve been keeping pretty busy these days, but I’m also well underway with work in pastel and egg tempera and expect to be able to post more new pieces soon. After a stormy couple of days I was able to get out for a walk and some oxygen and the light was beautiful.

Wonderful effect of shades and lights, I also love the pose of your sister, the arms resting on the chair, the detail of the glass of water, the shiny floor boards… A great piece of art. Congratulations.

What a beautiful painting! Your sister is lucky to have you draw her..

Thanks for the encouraging comment in my blog - I really feel like someone stuffed my head with cotton wool right now, and it kind of shuts out all the processes that were going on there before.
Congratulations on your new baby too!

What a beautiful painting. It’s so amazingly real, when I first looked I swore it was a photograph. You really know how to capture a moment.

Dear Ms Pohl,

I write as editor of an on-line journal devoted to Oscar Wilde (see www.oscholars.com). I would very much like to reproduce your ‘Reading the Picture of Dorian Gray’, with all accreditation to yourself and your gallery, and any further deatls about medium and price you may care of send me.

I very much hope this may appeal to you.

Yours sincerely,

D C Rose
